A headshot is a likeness, not a glamour shot
The headshot on Spotlight or your agent's site has one job: to get you called in as the person you are. So the session is unhurried, the light is soft and even, and the retouching stops at the things that would be gone by tomorrow. Ninety minutes gives time to warm up, which is when the good frames start.
Self-tapes live or die on sound and a reader who gives you something to play against. The studio is quiet, the light is flat and flattering, and someone reads the other lines so you are not acting to a phone.

How much are actor headshots?
£195 including VAT for 90 minutes, three looks and four retouched images. Extra images are £30 each. Students pay £150.
What counts as a look?
A change of top and a change of mood. Most actors bring something neutral, something warmer and one piece that suits the parts they go up for.
How much retouching do you do?
As much as a good night's sleep would do: stray hairs, a blemish, a shadow under the eyes. Casting directors want the person who walks through the door, so we leave your face alone.
What is a self-tape session?
An hour in the studio with even lighting, a plain backdrop, the sound recorded properly and a reader for the other lines. It costs £60 including VAT.

Adsdean, near Chichester, West Sussex, PO18 9DN. About fifteen minutes from Chichester Festival Theatre, with parking on site.
