This is a plain-English notice covering how this website handles data. It is not legal advice, and if you need something more formal for a procurement or vendor review, ask and we will provide it.

Who we are

What we collect

• When you enquire. Your name, email, and whatever you tell us about the job. We use it to reply and to quote. Nothing else.
• When you join the mailing list. Your email address, until you unsubscribe.
• When you browse. Anonymous usage data through Google Analytics 4 and Microsoft Clarity, and, if you arrived from one of our adverts, the click reference Google adds to the address bar. All described below.

Cookies and analytics

We use three measurement tools, all configured to tell us about patterns rather than people:

• Google Analytics 4 — page views, which pages lead to enquiries, roughly where visitors come from. IP addresses are anonymised by Google. Event data is kept for 14 months, then deleted automatically.
• Microsoft Clarity — anonymised heatmaps and session replays, so we can see which parts of a page are confusing. Text you type into forms is masked.
• Google Ads — we advertise on Google Search. If you arrive from one of our adverts, Google Ads sets cookies (typically _gcl_au and similar) and reads the click reference from the address bar, so Google can tell us that an enquiry followed an advert. It tells us which advert worked, not who you are. You can control personalised advertising at myadcenter.google.com.

All three set cookies in your browser, and they run on every visit. The notice you see on your first visit tells you they are in use; it is there to inform you rather than to ask permission. You can clear or block cookies in your browser settings at any time and the site will work exactly as before, and each tool has its own opt-out: Google Analytics, Microsoft Clarity and Google Ads. We do not use these cookies to re-target you with adverts elsewhere.

Who else sees it

Only the suppliers who run the plumbing: Google (analytics and advertising), Microsoft (Clarity), Amazon Web Services (hosting and enquiry email) and our email provider. They process data on our instructions. We do not pass your details to anyone else.

How long we keep it

Enquiries and quotes are kept for as long as we might reasonably need them for the job and our records, and then deleted. Analytics event data expires after 14 months. Mailing list entries last until you unsubscribe.

Your rights

Spam protection on our forms

Our enquiry and newsletter forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that a form is being filled in by a person rather than a bot. To do that it looks at your browser and your IP address, and it may store a short-lived token on your device. It does not track you across other websites and it is not used for advertising. Cloudflare processes this on our behalf as a data processor; see the Cloudflare privacy policy. Most people never see it, because it only shows a challenge when something looks unusual.

You can ask us for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email studio@granary.digital and we will sort it out. If you think we have handled your data badly, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, though we would rather you told us first so we can fix it.
