The Grain Hopper
A small private room, eight to ten seats and a kettle that gets used. Workshops, away-days, classes and the quiet corner talent sits in before filming. Three studios are a short walk away if the day needs cameras.
In short: The Grain Hopper is a 4.5m x 3m private events and meeting room near Chichester, heated and wheelchair accessible, from £25/hour, £90 half day, £160 full day +VAT.
In short: The Grain Hopper is a private 4.5m × 3m meeting and workshop room at Granary Digital near Chichester, West Sussex, seating eight to ten. Heated, wheelchair accessible, with fibre internet and free parking. From £25/hour, £90 half day (4 hours) or £160 full day (8 hours), all excluding VAT. Three production studios are on the same site.
The studios are black boxes. This room is not one.
The studios are a converted 16th-century barn with no windows anywhere in it. That is deliberate. A film studio you cannot black out is a film studio you cannot control, and the whole point of a blackout stage is that four in the afternoon looks identical to nine in the morning.
It is also completely wrong for a workshop. Nobody wants to spend a day learning something in a sealed dark room. So the Grain Hopper is in the office building rather than the barn: a normal, bright, comfortable room with a hexagonal LED ceiling, tea on the go and chairs you can sit in for four hours. It is where we put people when the day is about them rather than about the camera.
What it gets used for

Workshops and masterclasses
Painting, crafts, photography technique, hands-on creative days. Tables take covers and mess without anyone wincing, and the results can be photographed properly in a studio the same afternoon. Dates go out to the mailing list first.

Meetings and away-days
Small teams, planning sessions, client workshops. Eight to ten around tables, fibre internet, a whiteboard, and a location that is a field rather than a ring road. People concentrate better when getting there felt like leaving the office.

Green room on a shoot day
Somewhere for talent to wait, clients to watch back, or a crew to eat lunch without sitting on flight cases. If you are booking a studio for a full day, adding this room is the difference between a shoot day and a civilised one.

Community and local groups
Clubs, classes and local organisations who need a small private room for a couple of hours. That is what the hourly rate is for. We would rather it was used than empty.
The room itself
- 4.5m × 3m private room in the office building
- Eight to ten seated
- Wheelchair accessible, heated year round
- LED lighting, dimmable
- Fibre internet
- Coffee machine in the room, kettle, dressing room nearby
- Fifteen free parking spaces on site
Tables and chairs move. Boardroom for a meeting, tables together for a workshop, or chairs in a circle with everything pushed to the wall. Tell us which when you book and it will be set up before you arrive.

The reason it is worth booking here rather than a hotel room
A meeting room is a meeting room. What this one has is three production studios a short walk away, which changes what a day can be.
A team away-day can end with everyone filmed saying what they took from it. A craft workshop can finish with the work photographed on a white infinity cove instead of on somebody’s kitchen table. A training day can be recorded properly in the podcast studio and turned into something the people who could not attend can watch. None of that is possible from a room above a pub.
If the day is mostly about being filmed, start at corporate off-sites instead. If it is mostly about the people in the room, this is the page.

Questions we get asked
How many people does the Grain Hopper hold?
Eight to ten seated comfortably. It is 4.5m by 3m, so it is a genuinely small room and we would rather say so than have twelve people arrive and regret it. For anything larger we would talk to you about using one of the studios instead.
Is it in the barn with the studios?
No, and that is the point of it. The studios are a converted 16th-century barn with no windows at all, which is exactly what you want when you are lighting a shoot and exactly what you do not want when eight people are in a workshop until four o’clock. The Grain Hopper is a separate room in the office building on the same site, a couple of minutes’ walk away.
Is the Grain Hopper accessible?
Yes. The room is wheelchair accessible and heated year round.
Can you cater?
We can arrange catering for day bookings. Tell us numbers and any dietary requirements when you enquire. There is a coffee machine in the room and a kettle, which covers most half days.
Can I combine it with a studio?
Yes, and it is the reason the room exists. Run a workshop here and photograph the results in the White Space the same afternoon, or use it as a green room while a shoot runs next door. Booked together it is one quote and one day.
Can I just hire it by the hour?
Yes. Most of the site books in blocks, but the Grain Hopper and the Green Space book by the hour, from £25 +VAT. It suits a two-hour class or a morning meeting without paying for a day you will not use.
Is there parking?
Fifteen spaces on site, free, right outside. No permits, no barriers, no city centre one-way system.
