Studio specialists, location capable
In the studio, our gaffers run the incandescent and LED rig across 42 DMX channels, from clean catalogue white to full gel washes. On location they bring the same discipline to offices, warehouses and places with one socket and a fuse board from 1974.

Questions we get asked
What does a gaffer actually do?
The gaffer is the head of the lighting department: they take the DoP's lighting plan and make it real, safely, on schedule. Sparks are the electricians who rig and run it under the gaffer. Our guide 'What does a gaffer do?' covers it in detail.
Why hire a gaffer who knows your studio?
Rigging time. A gaffer who knows the 8-bar grid, the dimmer racks and the DMX patch starts lighting in minutes. One who doesn't starts with a survey.
Can your gaffers light colour washes for music videos?
Yes, gel washes and colour chases across the cove are a house speciality. See the music video page for what that looks like.
