New at the barn: business, team and actor headshots
From 27 September we're taking headshots in the White Space, for LinkedIn, team pages and Spotlight, and recording self-tapes with someone to read the other lines. Here is what each costs and who it suits.
Most bad headshots have the same causes: a ceiling light straight overhead, a door frame behind the head and no room to step back. The White Space has none of those problems. It has a lighting grid, a white cove and enough floor for a longer lens, which is what flatters a face. So from 27 September it has a second job, and we light the set before you arrive so the whole session goes on pictures.
Business and LinkedIn headshots, £149+VAT
Forty-five minutes on a lit set, two looks and three retouched images. Two looks might be a jacket and something more relaxed. You choose the background: white reads bright and modern, grey is the safe choice for a professional profile, and dark suits senior roles and speaker bios. If you want more than three pictures, ask on the day and we'll price the extra retouching.
Team days, £950+VAT
Up to 15 people, one retouched image each, at the barn or at your office, whichever gets more of the team in front of the camera. Everyone gets the same light and the same background, so the team page finally looks like one company. More than fifteen people, or a second look each, and we'll quote the numbers. Actor headshots, £195 inc VAT
Ninety minutes, three looks and four retouched images, with extra images at £30 each. Students pay £150 inc VAT. Ninety minutes gives time to warm up, which is when the good frames start. The retouching goes as far as a good night's sleep would: stray hairs, a blemish, a shadow under the eyes. Casting directors want the person who walks through the door, so we leave your face alone. Self-tapes with a reader, £60 an hour inc VAT
An hour in a quiet studio with even light, a plain backdrop, the sound recorded properly and a reader for the other lines, so you aren't acting to a phone propped on a bookshelf. The barn is about fifteen minutes from Chichester Festival Theatre, with parking on site. There's more on the craft in how to record a self-tape.
Why some prices include VAT and some don't
Business and team headshots are +VAT like everything else on our rate card, because companies book them. Actor headshots and self-tapes include VAT, because actors mostly book as individuals and a price with VAT still to add isn't much use to them. The Christmas photoshoots work the same way.
If you're booking a content day anyway
Content in a Day, at £1,395+VAT, already includes ten retouched headshots alongside a produced video podcast episode and six short social cuts. If you need both, that is one booking instead of two.
