In short: Granary Digital produces video and photography for marine businesses around Chichester Harbour and the Solent: brokerage films at the pontoon, boat-builder stories in the yard, and product and interview work at the studio near Chichester. Half days from £1,250+VAT, quoted per brief.

The harbour is full of stories nobody is filming

Between Chichester Harbour and the Solent sits one of the densest concentrations of marine business in the country: builders, brokers, riggers, sailmakers, schools, marinas, chandleries. Almost none of it is filmed properly. Brokerage listings run on phone photos, and yards doing genuinely careful work have nothing to show for it online.

We are ten minutes from the water, which changes the economics. A brokerage film at the pontoon, a morning in the yard with a builder, a sailing school's season opener: these become half-day jobs rather than a London crew's away-day, priced accordingly.

And some of the work belongs indoors. Kit and chandlery product on the cove, skipper interviews in the podcast suite, and one thing no dockside can offer: a rain rig, one of very few in the South of England, for shooting foul-weather gear in actual weather you control.

On the water and in the studio

The right half of the job in each place.

01A crew filming with studio lighting

Brokerage & builder films

Walkthrough films that sell boats to buyers who start online, and yard stories that show the standard of the work. Shot at your pontoon, shed or mooring, edited for listings and social.

02A product still photographed on the cove

Kit, chandlery & product

Clothing, hardware, electronics and provisions shot clean on the cove for listings and catalogues. Foul-weather kit can be shot under the rain rig, which makes the point better than any caption.

03An interview recorded in the podcast studio

Skippers, schools & stories

Instructor profiles for sailing schools, member stories for marinas and clubs, and interview content that turns decades of water time into marketing no competitor can copy.

Offshore kit, shot dry on the cove.

How it works

1. Brief call

Twenty minutes on what you do, who you want to reach and what the content is for. Free, and useful even if you never book.

2. The plan

We map a shot list and a running order to your calendar, so the day is booked against real posts and real campaigns.

3. The day

You and your people come to the barn. We direct, film and photograph the lot. Most clients say it is the easiest shoot they have done.

4. Edit & deliver

Cut, graded, captioned and sized per platform, delivered through a shared gallery ready to publish.

Questions we get asked

Do you film on the water?

Yes, from pontoons, tenders and chase boats arranged with you, subject to weather and sensible seamanship. On-water days are planned with a fallback, because the Solent does what it likes.

Can you really get marine kit into the studio?

Within reason, yes. The barn has ground-level double-door access and fifteen parking spaces, so trailers, tenders, rigs, sails and pallets of kit come straight in. A keelboat will not fit; most of what a chandlery or builder needs to shoot will.

What is the rain rig for?

Controlled rain, indoors, on a lit stage. For foul-weather clothing, deck kit and anything sold on keeping water out, it produces the exact image the product exists for, one of very few such rigs in the South of England.

When should marine businesses shoot?

Fit-out season for the yards, early spring for schools and charter, and boat-show lead-in for brokers. Book ahead of the season you are selling, not during it.

What does it cost?

From £1,250+VAT for a half day, from £2,950+VAT for a full Content Day. On-water and multi-site days are quoted per brief with travel shown upfront.
